Many people reach the end of school and decide to take a gap year. However, many can’t decide what to do with that time despite all the options out there. Some opt to do ski instructor training and live life on the slopes while others prefer to strap on their lifejackets and head for the surf. Both of these are great options and are easily put into practice within the wider context of a travelling trip.
A gap year is a great opportunity to do something different, to see parts of the world you never have and to learn new skills. It is important not to get dragged into the world of making money too early and forget about the great experiences you could have out on the road. The chance to be a surfing instructor is not one that you get every day so having a full year to go and learn that skill and spend your time out at sea, enjoying the waves is not to be missed. That might not be for everyone but if the water’s not for you then maybe the snow is.
